Free Apps For Macbook Pro

I have a 2007 MacBook which I'd like to know if it is possible to update further? Obviously it won't allow me to go past the LION 10.7.5 but I read you could visit the App Store and download Mavericks however this isn't even showing in the App Store. I have a new MacBook but would like to continue to use this for all of my website work as everything is in the one place but obviously all of the apps and web browsers are not compatible with the old version I have. Is there another way to continue to use this computer please? Thank you :)
