Macbook Arrow Keys
I have a macbook pro (version 10.6.8) and the arrow keys stopped working. I followed the instructions on the apple site for this problem and it didn't work. It is not a hardware problem because if I use another log in the keys work fine. Also, together with the comand, control, fn keys, the arrow keys function properly. The keyboard also introduced a unique command key similar to the 'open' Apple Key on the Lisa. Macintosh Numeric Keypad (M0120) Like the Apple IIe before it, the Macintosh provided an optional external keypad which also included arrow keys that daisy chained to. Sounds like it is not working, since he says 'My Macbook Air (A1466) has lost functionality to the down arrow key' by Reece @iceplow - It looks like the keycap lost the clips to hook onto the scissor mech, If depressing on the rubber the action works then thats whats needed.
However, you cannot type the arrow symbols on documents to indicate the direction. Generally, people use hyphen and greater/less than symbols like – or arrow symbols you can actually type with keyboard in Windows and Mac? Yes, you can do this using one of the alt keys with the combination of other keys.
Apple has determined that a small percentage of the keyboards in certain MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro models may exhibit one or more of the following behaviors:
- Letters or characters repeat unexpectedly
- Letters or characters do not appear
- Key(s) feel 'sticky' or do not respond in a consistent manner
Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will service eligible MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro keyboards, free of charge. The type of service will be determined after the keyboard is examined and may involve the replacement of one or more keys or the whole keyboard.

If you believe your Mac notebook was affected by this issue, and you paid to have your keyboard repaired, you can contact Apple about a refund.
